The chase scene with the was a little boring after I realized all i have to do is rhythmically hold and release the A button. Was it a flashback or something? Did I escape the aquarium and then my wife was on a random boat in the ocean and I rescue her, only to wind up back at the aquarium? It was not explained well enough I thought. And the whole level on the boat didn't make any goddamn sense to me at all. The final battle was a little bit weak and nonsensical. I ended up looking up a walk-through for that part and I was doing exactly what I was supposed to but just slightly wrong apparently. I got stuck on the shelves trying to climb over so I felt like I was missing something. The only frustrating part was the frozen pizza. The controls were insane but you get used to them (sort of). It was very amusing and heartwarming tale. Double the levels, add some more heft to the plot, and we're talking.

I don't know how to get Scarlet to throw a fish light to clog the fountain with. The whole game is intentionally clunky, but these felt particularly clunky. The specifically stealth parts (getting past the biologists) were a bit of a pace-killer, they were clunky. Some things were next to impossible with mouse, but switching to controller lead to me finishing the game in one sitting. The gameplay itself was fun, but I find it odd that the game is actually easier with a controller. I don't get that sense of completion/satisfaction that I was hoping from the trailer's emotional level. Basically, it seemed kinda hurried at the end. The trailer made it out to seem like it'd be a lot more emotional, in a cute and funny way. The ending doesn't really mesh with the feel I got from the rest of the neat heartwarming stuff, or the game's trailer. But I still think it could've gone on a bit longer. Scarlet wondering what is wrong with him/their relationship. Stacy asking Octodad if he ever gets scared. There was a lot of genuinely heartwarming/heartbreaking dialogue. The ending came sort of quickly (I was honestly expecting more levels, at least double what there was), but the plot pacing was nice.
